EUROSCAPES european landscapes management

The Vice-Ministry of Land Management of Canarias is in charge of the following activities in the management of natural resources, territorial and urban planning:

• developing Island management plan;
• developing partial territorial plans;
• developing standards for Protected Natural Areas;
• preparing the regulation for the organization and operation of the new system of integrated land information;
• coordinating the formulation and management of land information systems;
• adopting regional planning in management and conservation of protected natural areas;
• authorizing permitted uses in the areas of bonded protection of public domain sea and land, etc.

Thus the Vice-Ministry of Land Management of the Canarian Government has a complex series of planning and inventories’ tools, with good practices to exchange in the field of inventories. An objective is to drawup a plan with the aim of protecting natural and cultural landscapes in a sustainable way and to learn from others on analysing the quality and uses of landscapes. The main goal is to develop a new quality policy for urban landscape, environmentally-friendly and integrated thanks to the cooperation of all municipalities’ actions.

Transnational cooperation between national, regional and local authorities has the purpose to promote a greater degree of territorial integration in the larger regional groupings, in an effort to achieve sustainable development, harmonious and balanced, and better territorial integration between countries. This is of great value for the integrated development of the remote regions of the Canary Islands.
