Loures seminar "Landscape Management of peri-urban areas: active agriculture and land abandonment"

The Loures Euroscapes seminar took place on May the 10th and 11th 2012.

Euroscapes international seminar organized by Loures partner on the 10th and 11th of May 2012, discussed management of peri-urban landscapes possessing active agriculture as well as extensive areas of agricultural abandonment. The seminar was subdivided in five panels addressing the following problems:
- active agriculture in peri-urban space
- agricultural decline: abandonment or biodiversity?
- agriculture and socio-demographic dynamics
- socio-economic dynamics
- cultural landscapes

Partners from Loures explained the characteristics of landscape values present in its territory, including cultural heritage values, in the context of Loures LMP. Partners from Granollers, DATA (University of La Sapienza, Rome), City Region of Giessen-Wetzlar (Germany) contributed with their experiences in landscape management. Guests speakers coming from Portuguese universities as well as from the University of Copenhagen contributed with their expertise on these matters, provoking animated and fruitful debates. Loures Seminar included the presence and participation of Euroscapes partners from the SAN of Marne-la-Vallée/Val Maubuée, City of Torún (Poland) and the City of Braila (Romania).

The Seminar included the study tour of one priority cultural landscape under study by Loures in the context of its LMP.
