Euroscapes News 4

Dear readers,

We are happy to send you this fourth EUROSCAPES newsletter.

We are now at mid-term of the project and the exchanges of experiences continue and intensify.
The fourth thematic seminar was held in Trikala on GIS and e-tools as efficient approach for the management of landscapes. It was a very fruitful seminar, as the first draft of common methodology on Landscape Management Plans has been elaborated by all partners. Partners could work on the different uses of GIS for landscapes management (analysis, coordination of management actions, prospective purposes etc.) as well as on a methodology for best practices’ analysis. It was also the opportunity to present a first test of the Green Infrastructure Valuation Toolkit, tool presented in the previous seminar in London, and to further discuss the interesting question of the economic and social “value” of landscapes. A stimulating workshop on inhabitants’ participation initiatives and community involvement in landscape management has finally been held and partners will continue working on this issue during the next thematic seminars. A report and some presentations can be found under the Documents’ section of the website.

The next thematic seminar will be held in Viterbo, Italy, with a special focus on historical and cultural heritage. The detailed program will soon be available in the news section of the website. Keep informed!

Good reading!
